About Your Therapist
Alis Brown, LMP

I have over 13 years of experience relieving pain, improving circulation, and accelerating healing and athletic performance using Structural Integration, Shiatsu and Visceral Manipulation.  I call my work Full Body Balancing, it centers on the realignment of fascia (myofascial release) and the release of pressure points (shiatsu/acupressure).

Fascia is the tissue structure that compartmentalizes us internally and "shrink wraps" the body.  It is in the fascial layers that scar tissue forms after an injury, limiting range of motion and causing painful impingement. It is also fascia that can hold a muscle in a chronic state of discomfort.

Pressure points are areas of stagnation within the circulatory and nervous systems.  Stagnation in the circulation can lead to muscle tension, "knots", decreased range of motion and is the foundation of any dis-ease in the body. Addressing the realignment of fascia and releasing pressure points creates a sense of spaciousness and fluidity within allowing for real results. The circulation is improved allowing the body to better maintain homeostasis (balance), release tension and waste build-up, and to more efficiently heal itself. This work is highly effective in the reduction of pain, recovery from accident and illness, chronic conditions, structural imbalance, and aids the body in optimal performance.

I am a graduate of Brian Utting School of Massage and have completed more than 1800 hours of specialized training in Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Massage Therapy Techniques including advanced certification in: Structural Integration, Myofascial Release, Shiatsu, Deep Muscle Therapy and Reflexology.

I am a fully accredited Professional Health Care Provider, I am licensed by the state of Washington to provide Massage Therapy, and I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

Insurance Billing

I am a preferred provider for the following health care plans:

Aetna, American Whole Health, Cigna, Corvel, Healthways, Washington State Labor & Industries (L&I), all auto accident Personal Injury Protection (PIP) insurers.

I am able to bill the insurance companies listed above. If you would like to receive treatment and bill a different insurance company I can provide you with a receipt which you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

All sessions billed to an insurance company must have a prescription, referral, or pre-approval depending on the health plan.

There are numerous plans out there, each with different benefit packages and with different limitations on alternative healthcare. Most require a referral from a medical provider. Before you make an appointment it is very important that you call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions:

1. What is my coverage for massage?
2. Do I need a doctor's referral or prescription?
3. What is my co-pay or co-insurance?
4. What is my deductible for the year?
5. Has my deductible been met for the year?

Cancellations

I am a small private practice and appointment times are limited.  I value and honor the time set aside for you and ask that you do also.  I have a firm 24-hour cancellation policy.  Kindly review the cancellation information below.  Please note that by scheduling an appointment you are accepting the conditions of the cancellation policy.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at (206) 250-0550.

If you need to cancel your appointment please call or text me at (206) 250-0550, or email :  info@fullbodybalancing.com at least 24 hours in advance.  Since I turn away other clients to hold your appointment time, any cancellations with less than 24 hours notice (or no-shows) will result in full charges for the service scheduled.  This includes the equivalent deduction from gift certificates and promotional vouchers.  Insurance clients will be charged directly (out of pocket) as insurance providers do not allow billing for missed appointments.  No-shows, missed or forgotten appointments will not be rescheduled.

I realize that some things are out of our control.  I myself have paid for services cancelled late.  Please do not put me in the position of measuring your reasons for cancelling with less than 24 hours notice.  I am a small appointment-based business and am there especially for you.  I will not make exceptions to my 24 hour cancellation policy.

Referral Gratis:

Referrals from you are the highest form of compliment possible and are deeply appreciated.  When someone you know arrives for their first massage, request that they write your name in the "referred by" space on the intake form.  For each person you refer, you will receive a gift certificate in the mail for $20.00 towards your next massage.

Gift Certificates:

Gift certificates are beautifully prepared and available for all services.  Gift certificates are non-refundable and expire 3 months from the date issued.
